Both describe brightness: the higher the value, the stronger the picture — especially important when there is ambient light in the room. ANSI lumens are a particularly real-world measure.
A smooth white wall works. A proper screen gives a more even surface and a richer image, though — our 120-inch screen rolls down electrically for exactly that.
For a permanent spot use the ceiling or wall mount (even without drilling); for flexibility the height-adjustable floor stand. What matters is the right distance to the projection surface.
